Windows vista freezes during completing installation

Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I have been trying to install Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit on a new less than 1 year old Acer X desktop computer. Vista recognizes the drive, it will format it, and copy all installation files to the drive.

It then reboots, prepares to start for the first time, and gets to the part where it says completing installation and hangs there. The green progress bar no longer moves and it will hang indefinetely.

Some motherboards require drivers before being able to communicate properly. I think you should be given the option to add drivers. You can then place a CD in the PC and load the proper drivers. You can also try waiting a while. It took what felt like 10 years to load Vista Ultimate on there and ran like garbage, until I updated the BIOS and drivers after installation.

Thank you for the post. I figured out what it was, I had to create a boot disc using seagate disc wizard and then format the harddrive. After that vista installed with no problem. If I tried with more than 2Gb Vista 64 freeze during installation or during normal use.

I tried to disable the remapping RAM Mine was a voltage issue. I set mine to 2. Good Luck!!! Sorry for the long reply, but I never was sent a message saying someone replied.

Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Windows Client. Sign in. You are great Jaco Wednesday, November 17, AM. This worked for me on my Inspiron Go in to the BIOS and do as it said above. Thank you so much for your help!!! Not an issue on Windows 8!!! Saturday, December 29, PM. Monday, November 18, AM. I know this is an old post - but it's exactly what I need from the sounds of it.

If so, where do I go from there? Any help doing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your feedback. The computer reboots once, and then on the "Completing Installation" entry it hangs after a few minutes, the mouse doesn't move, nothing happens. I have let it run in this state for approximately 10 hours thinking it needed "time" to install. Based on things I have read in this forum and elsewhere, I have disconnected all USB peripherals, and have nothing attached that is not needed for the installation.

Any thoughts?
