Update on seve ballesteros

Admittedly Severiano Seve Ballesteros' best years in professional golf came before my time. The year he turned professional I was born. Throughout the s, my love for the game was in its infancy and I was neither old enough nor concerned enough with golf or much else to sit up and take notice of what was going on with Ballesteros or any other golfer.

Thanks to the magic of the Internet I've been able to watch many a moment created by Ballesteros and others over those years. My increased interest in Ballesteros comes on the heels of the news that he recently underwent surgery to have a brain tumor removed. At time of writing there was nothing further than this on his recovery — the entire golf world no doubt holds its collective breath hopeful of a full recovery.

In my humble opinion, not witnessing something first hand makes it hard if not impossible to do it justice in description or analysis, so I'm not about to attempt to do that with Ballesteros' finer moments in golf. In honour of Ballesteros' incredible legacy, the Open paid tribute by creating a spectacular piece of sand art on the beach of St Andrews and golf fans flooded the comments section to applaud the touching gesture.
